How Am I Doing?

Life is a struggle daily. For a brat that could not live on routine, I have managed to survive being on schedule because my boys dictate me so. Everyday is a resolve to become a better mom, wife, and person. I drag myself up to prepare the big boy for school. I make him a quick breakfast and pack his lunch box. I do the same for the husband as well. In between that, I grab a bottle for each baby for their morning milk and change their diapers. If I'm lucky they would both go back to sleep. Other days, they would be up earlier than everyone else!

I sometimes would steal a bite or two and sip a little coffee or tea before I walk the big boy to the bus stop. I lock the door and leave the babies for maybe five minutes tops. The stop is just three houses down. Usually the morning breeze and sunshine would cheer me up and get me going for the whole day. If I feel like it, I'd bring the babies with me with a duo stroller so we can stroll around the block for a a good ten to fifteen minutes. But with the weather getting cold hiccups now, I doubt if I would take them out. Both babies have a reaction to the cold, which merits another story.

When I get back to the house, almost always both lovely critters would need another diaper change. Yes, both of them! Then I'd feed the big baby his breakfast, we would play tag, tickle, and whatnots. I throw him up in the air, swing him, dance with him, and etc. We do this while the other one is asleep. Just when the youngest wakes up, the big baby would be cranky and due for a morning nap. And another round of play. I feed him his first stage mush and let him loose. Sometimes, I just want to snuggle with him.

Other days, both of them nap at the same time and I nap with them too or do stuff like catching up on my tv shows online or doing chores and other work. I either indulge myself or be a headless chicken on a timer doing everything at once -- laundry, dishes, vacuuming, mopping, cooking.

Mid-day would be lunch and feeding time for anyone who is awake. Then another round of playing. I sometimes collapse on a chair while snuggling either of the babies. I cannot really sleep because I need to pick up the big boy from the bus stop. He comes home hungry and dirty. I feed him snacks, then homework time. Afterwards it is their bath time while I make dinner. Yes, they enjoy the bath together now and frees me up!

Dinner time is around six thirty or seven, mostly without the Dad. When he comes home, we eat together (not always in peace) while the kids play. Bedtime routine starts at around eight, they take their vitamins, milk, brush their teeth, and we pray together before tucking them to bed. I look forward to tucking them at night... this means, it's my time with the husband and/or with my laptop.

I sleep tired and happy. And wake up again when the alarm rings.... hopeful that it will always be a wonderful day ahead!!!
